Penllergaer is the name of an electoral ward, a community and a village in the City and County of Swansea, South Wales.

The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Gorseinon, Penllergaer East and West, in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. It is a mainly rural ward with grassland to the south and woodland to the north. It it bordered by Llangyfelach to the east; Penderry to the south; Kingsbridge to the south west; Gorseinon to the west, Penyrheol to the north west and Llangyfelach to the north east.

The village of Penllergaer is situated about 4 miles north west of Swansea city centre. Curiously, offices of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council are located in the village. This was as a result of local government reorganisation in Wales in 1996, whereby Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council were allocated the Civic Centre in Penllergaer for its use. Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council will vacate the Civil Centre in the near future. Arguably, Penllergaer is best known to the people of Swansea for the busy M4 Motorway junction just north of the village.
