Peng! is the first full length album from Stereolab, originally released in May 1992. In Peng!, the lines between Krautrock, Dream Pop and easy listening are blurred, which is reminiscent of their definitive sound: post rock. The album features an interpretation of Charles Baudelaire's "Enivrez-Vous," a poem mixed with a remarkably calm tune. Additionally, the lyrics of "Peng! 33" borrow loosely from the opening of pages of Gabriel García Márquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, and the "33" in the title is probably a refence to German rock band Neu!'s habit of indicating the RPM at which several of the songs from their second album, Neu! 2, were played.
