Penalosa is a city in Kingman County, Kansas, United States. The population was 27 at the 2000 census.

Penalosa is located at 37°42′57″N, 98°19′12″W (37.715846, -98.320084)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 27 people, 12 households, and 8 families residing in the city. The population density was 148.9/km² (374.2/mi²). There were 19 housing units at an average density of 104.8/km² (263.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.

There were 12 households out of which 8.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, and 33.3% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.75.

In the city the population was spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 14.8% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 37.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 58 years. For every 100 females there were 107.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 133.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $25,000, and the median income for a family was $66,250. Males had a median income of $21,250 versus $41,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,331. There were 20.0% of families and 11.4% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 33.3% of those over 64.
