From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pembroke College Boat Club is the rowing club for members of Pembroke College, Oxford. Pembroke is one of the top Oxford college boat clubs, with high levels of success for both men and women. In 2003, Pembroke achieved an historic victory in the Oxford Summer Eights competition by gaining the 'Double Headship', whereby both men's and women's first boats ended the week 'Head of the River'. Pembroke was the first college to achieve the Double Headship, and it has yet to be repeated in the Summer Eights competition. Currently (2006), Pembroke men are 2nd on the river and the women lie 3rd on the river. Both crews are well within striking distance of the Head of the River. Lower down in the club Pembrokes' development program is one of the most sucesful in Oxford College Rwoing having produced more Blues in the last 10 years than any other college, and resulting in Pembroke having the best performing 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th mens' boats on the river.
