Pelléas et Mélisande (Fauré)

Pelléas et Mélisande, Op.80. In 1898 Gabriel Fauré composed and conducted the incidental music for the London production of Maeterlinck's play.

A Suite of four items for orchestra was published in 1900 and first performed in 1901.

It has also been arranged for solo piano and piano duet.

The Sicilienne has become very popular with arrangements for flute and piano (by Henri Büsser amongst others), as well as other instruments.
