Pelargonium graveolens is a species of Pelargonium with great importance in the perfume industry and is cultivated on a large scale. It's foliage is distilled for its scent. P. graveolens cultivars have a wide variety of smells, from rose, citrus, Mint, coconut, to nutmeg, as well as various fruits. However, the most commercially important varieties are those that have rose scents.
Pelargonium distillates and absolutes, commonly known as "scented geranium oil" are sometimes used to supplement or adulterate more expensive rose oils.
