Pekka Puska

Pekka Puska (born 18 December 1945 in Vaasa) is a Finnish doctor, expert on public health and politician. He has been the head of the National Public Health Institute of Finland since 2003 and before that he was the temporary head of the institute since 2000. He has had great influence over Finnish medical science for a long time.

He has also worked as a medical expert for the World Health Organization (WHO) since 1994, and at 2006 he was the Finnish candidate for the director-general post of WHO.
