The Peddars Way is a long distance footpath in Norfolk, England. It is 46 miles (74 kilometres) long and follows the route of a Roman road. The name is said to be derived from the Latin pedester -- on foot. It is first mentioned on a map of 1587. It starts at Knettishall Heath in Suffolk (about 7km east of Thetford near the Norfolk-Suffolk border), and it links with the North Norfolk Coastal Path at Holme-next-the-Sea.
Combined with the North Norfolk Coastal Path, it forms the Peddars Way & Norfolk Coast Path National Trail, one of 15 National Trails in England and Wales.
It is one of four long distance footpaths which, when combined, run from Lyme Regis to Hunstanton and are referred to as the Greater Ridgeway.

[edit] Public transport
The Peddars Way may be accessed by public transport. There is a path linking the Southern end, at Knettishal Heath, to the nearby Harling Road railway station. Holme, at the Northern end, has an occasional through bus service to King's Lynn. Additional journeys to King's Lynn may be made by changing bus at Hunstanton. Holme also has a regular bus service to Sheringham. Both King's Lynn and Sheringham allow onward connections using their regular rail services.

In August 2006, three charity fund raisers bought the Peddars Way to the headlines by taking it on together with the North Norfolk Coastal Path in aid of charity fund raising. The event named the Nowhere Roadevent website raised just over forty thousand pounds for the Orchid Cancer Appeal and the Norfolk Playing Fields Association (part of the National Playing Fields Association.
