[edit] The authenticity of these days

Please, anyone, don't delete this page -- I worked long and hard on it. But if you have anything to say or add then it would be nice to have a consensus before touching anything in the article. Thanks! :) Janet 02:39, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

According to the Peanuts Collector's Club FAQ:
Snoopy: August 10 or August 28
Charlie Brown: October 30
Violet: June 17
Peppermint Patty: October 4
Linus: November 22
I have some thoughts on "relative ages" but that's best put on the main Peanuts talk page. - Aerobird 17:35, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Also...not sure of the "canonicity" of this, but I recall noting that the reason Lydia keeps saying Linus is "too old for me" is because, IIRC the explanation goes, her birthday is in December but his in October... - Aerobird 20:31, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Names

What source do you have for a middle name for Violet? Her last name was only mentioned once in the entire run of the strip... - Aerobird 17:10, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

What sources are you using for the additional dates (those not in the Peanuts Collectors' Club FAQ)? - Aerobird 01:28, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Facts, just the facts...

A few of these dates (including some in the "known" column) aren't in the list in the Peanuts Collectors' Club FAQ - which has virtually everthing known or assumed about the strip in it. A reference for the canonicy of these dates would be good...I don't think they're "provable". - Aerobird 21:36, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Please feel free to move them to the other section (or remove them altogether) if they are not verifiable. Turnstep 02:02, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
I've removed all dates that weren't mentioned in the strip (and thus in the PCC FAQ). - Aerobird 02:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Hey -- I said we should ALL have a consensus (sorry I didn't clarify this, but ALL means including ME). Just because I'm on wikibreak doesn't mean people can start changing my articles! And who added the "or in October" crap? The PCC clearly says that Linus was given a chair for his birthday on 22 November, so why did you feel compelled to add October? If Sally was born on 25 May, wouldn't 25 May be her birthday? Some people's minds here just aren't working this week. Janet6 21:57, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
If you think people shouldn't "change your articles", you shouldn't post them on Wikipedia. The way Wikipedia works is that anyone can change any article at any time.
As for Linus' birthday, while the PCC site and the strip indicate 22 November, there is another thing I remember seeing - as I mentioned above - that Lydia thinks Linus is "too old for her" is because her birthday is in December, and his in October. (Unfortunatly can't remember the source). Finally, the "birthdays unsure but possible" are just that - unsure. They don't belong in an encyclopedia article. - Aerobird 01:21, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

BTW, regarding Linus' birthday, I found what I was looking for in a strip reprinted on Page 148 of Peanuts: A Golden Celebration:

  • Lydia: When were you born?
Linus: I was born in October...

- Aerobird 04:01, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

If the "unsure but possible" information doesn't belong in an encyclopedia article, then why does Wikipedia have articles on Bigfoot, ghosts and UFOs? Perhaps a compromise would be to add a warning banner like the one at the top of the Bigfoot article, mentioning that this article has 'original research or unproven claims' tharkun860 18:45, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
The difference is that in this case there is a very clear black-and-white: those dates confirmed in the canon - the strips - and those that are not. - Aerobird 01:31, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge to Peanuts

there's really not enough information here to warrant a separate article, even less than the "ages of the peanuts characters" article.

Agreed. Please let's merge this back. It's not important enough nor detailed enough to be an independent article. Also, because it was already redirected, it can't be moved to the grammatically correct "Peanuts characters' birthdays". Thank you. Rockhopper10r 15:53, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
