PDIP is a Think Tank on Post-Conflict, Economic and Gender issues and coordinates with various organisations internationally.

- PDIP was initiated by Rajkumar Kanagasingam and named as Princess Diana Institute of Peace after the demise of Diana, Princess of Wales for her untiring engagements in ban on anti-personnel landmines and for her other humanitarian activities and incorporated in Sri Lanka in 1998.
- PDIP carried out number of activities under the guidance of Dr. Gamani Corea, a former Secretary - General of UNCTAD, Dr. James W. Spain, a former US Ambassador for Sri Lanka and the UN and Mrs. Rosy Senanayake, a former Mrs. World, Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA and Sri Lankan High Commissioner for Malaysia.

- PDIP conducted a landmark seminar on the effects of globalisation towards women and children in association with Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) and United Nations Association at BMICH in 1999 under the chairmanship of Dr.Gamani Corea, Chief Advisor of the PDIP with the participation of eminent economists Dr. J.B.Kelegama, Prof. A.D. V. de S Indraratne and Dr. Kim Hak-Su with Mrs. Rosy Senanayake (Honorary President of the PDIP) and Ambassador D.L.Mendis (a former Sri Lankan Ambassador for Austria).
- PDIP initiated an awareness program on Strategic Post-Conflict Economic Development Initiative in its bid to promote then Sri Lankan Government's "Regaining Sri Lanka" initiative island-wide.
- PDIP is coordinating with Asian-German Sports Exchange Program to create awareness on landmine issues in association with the
US State Department's Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement and carried out number of awareness programs on ban on anti-personnel landmines under the guidance of Dr. James W. Spain, (Founder Patron of the PDIP).
