PCSX
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PCSX is a PlayStation emulator. It translates PlayStation machine language into into PC machine language so that games which would normally only be playable on PlayStation are able to run on a standard computer. This is not a perfect science; some games will have issues while others won't run at all.

[edit] History
PCSX is a free software Sony PSX (PlayStation) emulator released under the GNU General Public License. It features support for network and external PAD plug-ins. The emulator was first released for the PC on August 31, 2000 This program was first started for a program of the Sony PSX (PlayStation) emulator to the Sega Dreamcast, which continued to be ported over the PC for Windows and lastly ported to the Microsoft Xbox. As time moved on, this program for the PC and DC was given up, and the source code for the project was released on the internet. This allowed coders to be able to work their own ideas into the program. The PCSX project code was picked up by Xport and his team of coders, and was ported over to the Microsoft Xbox system to which the program is being still being updated. The program continues to be more compatible with more Sony PlayStation 1 system games as coders continue to seek more improvements to the program itself.
