Have anybody noticed that the chart shows that there were 35 000 pirates in 1820, 45 000 in 1860 and then 20 000 in 1880? This makes no sense, why would the temperature raise, if there are more pirates? --Fuzzybyte 21:12, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

The reason for this is simplee. In order to stop global warming, the number of pirates must be rising at a rate faster than 260 pirates per year. Between 1820 and 1860, the number of people becoming pirates was not high enough to sustain a constant global average temperature (less than 250 new pirates per year), so the temperature growth was slow. Once the number of pirates began actually dropping, you'll note that the global average temperature started skyrocketing! The exact number of new pirates per year (or NPPY) required to cease global warming has not yet been calculated. -- Obscenic 19:13, 1 November 2006 (MST)
