Paysandú Department is a department of Uruguay. Its capital is Paysandú. Paysandú is home to a large Uruguayan brewery and hosts an annual Semana de la Cerveza (Week of the Beer), a weeklong festival of music, arts, carnival type rides, and beer.

As of the census of 2004, there were 113,244 people and 33,691 households in the department. The average household size was 3.3. For every 100 females, there were 98.8 males.
