Paxo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paxo is a well-known brand of stuffing in the United Kingdom, currently owned by RHM.

Paxo was invented in 1901 by John Crampton, a butcher from Eccles in Manchester, who wanted to help make Sunday lunches more exciting for his customers.

In the beginning growth of Paxo was slow because stuffing is mainly served with chickens and poultry was traditionally regarded as a luxury. As the price of chickens dropped and that of red meats rose in the 50’s and 60’s Paxo’s popularity grew and grew.

[edit] Trivia

It is also the nickname of Jeremy Paxman, given by Ludovic Kennedy.

In BBC Sitcom Red Dwarf, Rimmer called Captain Hollister "Captain Paxo" as he dressed in a chicken costume for a fancy dress party.
