Pawel Abbott is a professional footballer who plays for Huddersfield Town in Coca-Cola League One as a striker.

Born to Polish parents, Abbott began his footballing career as a youth player at LKS Lodz, before moving to Preston North End at the age of 19.

He didn't have the best time at Preston making only 20 appearances in 3 years and therefore subsequently had 2 loan spells at Bury.

In early 2004, Abbott was signed on loan by Huddersfield as a makeshift replacement for Jon Stead who had just been sold to Premiership side Blackburn Rovers. He scored on his debut after coming off the bench against Bristol Rovers. He was then bought for a fee of around £125,000. Abbott has been nicknamed Pav by the Town fans.

However, he caused Huddersfield to miss out on automatic promotion from Division 3 in 2004-05, after messing up a back-pass to goalkeeper Paul Rachubka on the last day of the season in a match against Cheltenham Town, which saw Town go into the play-offs instead, from which they got promoted.

In July 2006, Abbott rejected a move to Milton Keynes Dons as part of a swap deal with their defender Dean Lewington. He said that he wanted to fight for a first-team place against Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Andy Booth, John McAliskey and new signing Luke Beckett.
