Pauline McNeill

Pauline McNeill (born September 12, 1962) is a politician in the United Kingdom. She has Labour Member of the Scottish Parliament for Glasgow Kelvin (Scottish Parliament constituency), Scotland, having been elected in the Scottish Parliamentary Election, 1999 and the Scottish Parliamentary Election, 2003

Pauline McNeill was educated at Our Lady's High School, Cumbernauld, before attending the Glasgow College of Building and Printing. From 1986 to 1988 she was a president of the National Union of Students Scotland. She gained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Strathclyde in 1999.

From 1988 to 1999 McNeill was a regional organiser in Scotland for the GMB Union representing workers in the National Health Service.
[edit] Parliamentary Work
McNeill was a convenor of the Justice 2 Committee from until 2003, then becoming the Convenor of the Justice 1 Committee of the Scottish Parliament (2003-).
In addition she has campaigned on a variety of local issues in Glasgow Kelvin.
She is also convenor the cross Party groups within the Scottish Parliament that cover Palestine and the Scottish Contemporary Music Industry. In addition McNeill is a member of the following

In 2005 McNeill was awarded the Equality Network 'Friend for Life' award for her work in ensuring that the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and Gender Recognition Act 2004 legislation passed at the UK Government level was compliant with existing Scottish legislation.
