Paul Anthony Thomas (born October 5, 1980) is Good Charlotte's bassist. He started out on the guitar, but then a friend influenced him to play the bass. Paul attended La Plata High School in La Plata, Maryland with Benji and Joel Madden, but was expelled after threatening to punch the principal in the face. [citation needed] Paul has known Benji and Joel since they were young children, and fellow GC member Billy Martin since he joined the band in 1998. Paul is originally from Waldorf, Maryland and his favorite band is The Pixies. He has an elephant tattoed on his right arm inspired by his favorite painter, Salvador Dalí. His favorite cereal is Golden Grahams and he has stars tattoed around his left calf. Paul goes by the nick name 'St Paul'. He is the somewhat quieter member of the band, but that doesn't stop him from having a strong following of fans. One of the fans' favourite Paul quote is 'no one has a crush on the bass player', which has inspired many t-shirt designs since. Paul plays five string basses, preferring the plucking method over slap string or pick.
