Paul Noonan is an Irish singer from Celbridge, north Kildare, and lead vocalist of the band Bell X1, most noted for their albums Music In Mouth and Flock.

As a child he formed a band with his friend Jason McMenamin and learned a lot from him, but his earlier musical career came sadly to an end as Jason died in a car crash at the age of 16. Noonan was left blank after this and still writes about Jason in many songs. He is also a childhood friend of Brian McMahon, the drummer of the band Future Kings of Spain, with whom he played percussion in the Lucan Concert Band for several years.

Previous to Bell X1, Noonan had attended university at Trinity College, Dublin, where he completed a degree in Computer Engineering before pursuing a career in music.

He had been the drummer with Irish band Juniper, who were about to sign a multi-album deal with Polygram before frontman Damien Rice left the band and moved to Tuscany, France. The remaining band members continued to play together and eventually formed Bell X1 with Noonan as their vocalist. Rice, meanwhile, has become a world-famous folk artist, most noted for his albums O and 9.

Noonan plays drums on all of Bell X1's studio recordings and has been known to occasionally play drums at live performances if the usual session drummer, Tim O'Donovan (who also fronts electro-pop act NeoSuperVital) is not available. He more commonly plays guitar, percussion and kazoo. Noonan also appeared, and was among the producers on, the 2006 charity Cake Sale album.
