Paul Niwa

Paul Niwa directs and produces documentaries and new media projects about Asian American identity. He is also an Assistant Professor of journalism at Emerson College in Boston.

He instructs graduate and undergraduate students in broadcast, financial and convergent journalism. His long form pieces have been aired nationally on PBS, National Public Radio and Pacifica Radio, and he has won two Golden Mikes for documentary and feature reporting. Before teaching, Niwa produced television news programs for national and international networks, national cable, national syndication, local stations and local all news cable. During his career, Niwa helped to launch two international television networks in Asia, six newscasts and a streaming media newscast. Niwa has produced NBC’s “Early Today” and CNBC’s “Today’s Business.” He has also been a Senior Vice President of StockHouse Media, which at the time was Canada’s largest Internet content producer.
Niwa has an economics degree from University of California, Riverside and a masters degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. His website is .
