Paul Myers (record producer)

Paul Myers (Born Plaistow, London, England 1967) - Wippit (CEO / Founder): Paul Myers has a proven and highly successful track record within both the music and Internet industries. In the 80's his work as a successful club DJ, (he was resident at London's Hippodrome at the age of 18) led on to a range of production activities during the following decade.

From 1989 to 1995, Mr. Myers was a songwriter and record producer, producing work for Polydor Records, Warner Brothers Recordings, Rhythm King Records and Sony Music as well as contributing to movie soundtracks such as Rage In Harlem starring Gregory Hines and Forest Whitaker. This culminated in him being awarded a Platinum Disc for his production work on the 1991 Album "Boomania" for recording artist Betty Boo and contained the hit "24 Hours" which was also written and co-vocaled by Myers. His songs were remixed and produced Norman Cook, William Orbit and David Morales. After his success in music he turned his attention to the blossoming Internet Industry.

After forming successful Internet businesses such as award winning web design agency, Nethead and the UK's first portal, G.O.D. he created a revolutionary idea that would change the face of the Internet - Free Internet access.

His next company X-Stream launched the UK's first Free ISP in March 1998. This business model subsequently influenced many others and changed the way the Internet was by users access all over the world. Paul went on to build X-Stream into the UK's 3rd largest ISP with over 700,000 users before establishing operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Japan creating the world's first multi-national FREE ISP. In March 2000 X-Stream was acquired by French ISP Liberty Surf in a deal valuing X-Stream in the region of $122 million when Liberty Surf floated on the Paris Bourse.

Since 2001 Wippit has been selling music downloads, is the biggest UK owned MP3 retailer and is regarded as second in UK market for entertainment downloads offering music and movies from more than 1700 different companies and is regarded as second in the UK music download market.

He is the author of a travel memoir, What I Did in Cuba.
