Paul Heckingbottom (born July 17, 1977, Barnsley, South Yorkshire) is a professional English football player who currently plays for Barnsley FC, wearing the number 3 shirt.

Paul started his career at Manchester United as a trainee but joined Sunderland after failing to make an impact at Manchester United. Heckingbottom enjoyed loan spells at Scarborough, Hartlepool and Darlington before joining the Quakers in 1999. He made 128 appearances scoring 6 goals while catching the attention of Norwich City who signed him in 2002. Paul made just 16 appearances for them before returning to the North to play for Bradford City in 2003 where he was named their player of the year in 2004 but left to join Sheffield Wednesday at the end of that season. Heckingbottom made over 45 appearances for the owls and helped them to the League One Play Off final in 2005.

Paul, signed for Barnsley FC in 2006, playing an important part in their promotion campaign and win against Swansea in the play off final scoring one of the 4 penalties that secured their return a higher footballing league. Heckingbottom has currently made 23 appearances for Barnsley scoring 1 goal.
