Paul H. Carr

Paul Henry Carr (February 13, 1924 - October 25, 1944) was a U.S. Navy gunner's mate third class who received a Silver Star for his actions aboard USS Samuel B. Roberts (DE 413) at the Battle off Samar during World War II. The Navy later honored Carr by naming the guided missile frigate Carr for him.
Carr married Goldie Lee Johnson in Checotah, Oklahoma, on October 23, 1943, leaving her a widow just one year later.
