Paul B. Thompson

Paul B. Thompson is a writer, who mainly writes science fiction and fantasy. He has published fifteen books so far, many of which are novels set in the Dragonlance fictional novels. Most of these are co-authored with Tonya C. Cook. He believes that fiction is a progressive craft, so he tries to improve his technique with each new work.

Paul grew up in North Carolina. He was influenced by early TV shows like Star Trek, and he read many books from the county library involving imaginative literature.

In 1976 he went to the University of North Carolina, majoring in European History. There, he met Tonya Cook through a science fiction club called Chimera. He received his masters degree in 1983, and after that started working at the university library. During that time he began to write articles for magazines and writing novels. He tried writing historical novels, but found no market for them so he began to write fantasy and science fiction. He also began collaborating with Tonya at that time, and they have worked together ever since.

Paul currently lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with his wife Elizabeth.
