[edit] In-page interlanguage links

To make an interlanguage link in-page, prefix a colon (e.g. [[:en:wiki|wiki]]). This can e.g. be useful to link to a page in another language if no local version is available. See also some example templates for conveniently making such links:

  • nl:n (in Dutch) - explicit "see" or "see also"
  • e (nl) - for linking to both en and nl
  • e (nl) - for linking to both en and nl, film etc.
  • (nl) - just an nl-link relating to the text in front, but further independent of any text
  • e (nl) - convenient if name the same on en and nl and for switching to and from nlil

Compare:

  • e {{nlis|n}} gives e (nl)
  • {{nlinl|e|n}} gives e (nl)

[edit] Test sorting

The population sorting link gives a cycle of all four orders, because the largest number, and the number which is alphabetically the first, are both in scientific notation, while the smallest number, and the number which is alphabetically the last, are both not in scientific notation:

Rank Province Population % Density
Netherlands 162548e2 100.0% 391.4
1 South Holland 3453000 21.2% 1207.3
2 North Holland 2583900 15.9% 971.4
3 North Brabant 2406900 14.8% 487.4
8 Friesland 642500 4.0% 191.2
5 Utrecht 11592e2 7.1% 854.9
C Flevoland 356400 2.2% 249.9

A link gives also a cycle of all four orders, if the largest number, and the number which is alphabetically the first, are both not in scientific notation, while the smallest number, and the number which is alphabetically the last, are both in scientific notation.

There is a cycle of numeric sorting only if the largest and smallest value are not in scientific notation. We have the following cases:

  • We enter this cycle directly if in addition the value in the originally first row is not in scientific notation.
  • We enter this cycle after two steps if the value in the originally first row is in scientific notation, and the alphabetically first number is not.
  • We enter this cycle after three steps if the value in the originally first row is in scientific notation, and the alphabetically first number also , but the alphabetically last number is not.
  • We do not enter this cycle at all if the value in the originally first row is in scientific notation, and the alphabetically first number also , but the alphabetically last number also.

To force numeric sorting we can add two dummy rows with numbers not in scientific notation, of which one row is at the beginning and contains in each column a value less than all other values in that column, and the other row contains in each column a value greater than all other values in that column.
