[edit] Earings

The sister whose earings are s-shaped is Selma.

How often does she wear those earings, though? Even the article show her with circle earings! Sonic Mew 13:03, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)
Almost all the time in the later seasons of the TV show. The hair is the best way to decide between them, though. --Oppolo 19:13, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Disco Stu

Selma Bouvier Terwilliger Hutz McClure Stu

Do we know Disco Stu's last name? Has Selma's full name been used since marrying him? Sonic Mew 13:06, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Chinese Government

"The Chinese government only allowed their children to be adopted to successful couples."

Does anyone know what rules (if any) the Chinese government has for allowing foriengers to adopt Chinese babies? If you can find anything about this, please put clause and an inline citation about it in the article. I seriously doubt they have any, especially for Chinese baby girls. Captain Jackson 20:47, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

I doubt they do, however this is irrelevant, since the Simpsons universe is fictional even if it is sometimes alalagous to reality (i.e. Fox News, Teletubbies, Bill Clinton) but you can mention somtime such as. This is however not the real policy of the Chinese governmet^ and cite it. I think they even let same sex househoolds adopt--even single homosexuals/bisexuals, but I can't prove it, but if you can, go for it. Qrc2006 00:16, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Julia Sweeney said in 2003 on NPR's "The Next Big Thing" that when she was trying to adopt from China, she received several calls from the agency trying to get confirmation on her orientation because the government had become aware of the prevalence of same-sex couples adopting Chinese children, and wished to prevent this. You can hear it for yourself here:In the Family Way - audio of Julia Sweeney The section about the answering machine messages starts at 13min 8sec into the 21-minute segment. (And no, I'm not telling you this from memory - I had to Google a bit to find it, but I knew I distinctly remembered the story, and I was right!) Lawikitejana 07:38, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Update: Not that I'm disagreeing that for purposes of "The Simpsons," it wouldn't have to be true. Lawikitejana 07:39, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Patty's Sexuality

A disturbing thought, yes, but nevertheless...

Patty is revealed to be a lesbian, but why did she get involved with Seymour Skinner? He is, after all, a man (presumably - I'm hoping that the next episode doesn't reveal Skinner to be a woman.) Also, if she found herself attracted to someone who was actually a man, what evidence is there of Patty actually BEING a lesbian? Well, there was an incident, if not the first, where Patty was seen leaving a berlesk house in the episode where Bart was working at the Maison Derrier. The scene never maid sense until Patty annouced that she was a Lesbian in the later seasons.

Also, the couple obviously weren't THAT close (you know what I mean? Clink-clink-pant-pant-aROOOOOO-Hubba-hubba!), if Patty never found herself in a situation where she could discover that Veronica was male. --80.42.213.21 17:59, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

One theory I'd heard was that her reason for breaking up with Skinner, she couldn't marry him if Selma was still unmarried, was somewhat unconvincing. Or in least that on its own it wasn't enough of a reason. After Selma married three or four guys without the same consideration this should've irritated her greatly if she was in fact in love with Skinner. Still I wish they had somehow dealt with this in that episode as Skinner was in a scene at the "wedding." Personally I do think she loved Skinner in a way. However she never really displays much passion for him in the episode. He's seeing her face in Bart's graffiti, but she's still kind of stand-offish and barely allows her to kiss him. However she is seen as fairly happy with him so I think she loves him in the way a heterosexual woman would love a "kindred spirit" female friend.
On the "three or four" guys thing Selma once mentioned that she had married Lionel Hutz, but I don't ever remember an episode where she did so or where in passing they even said she married him.--T. Anthony 06:16, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Patty's Name

How do we know she isn't just called Patty, wher does Patricia come from?

[edit] Selma married to Hutz? When did THAT happen?

All over wikipedia it is claimed she married Hutz. Now obviously this stems from episode 3F20 i.e. 7x23 - Much Apu about Nothing. In it Selma says "My name's already Selma Bouvier Terwilliger Hutz McClure". (http://snpp.com/episodes/3F20.html) Now this never actually happened in any episodes - maybe the writers just chucked it in there as a joke, to make the name longer or something else. Maybe we could at least have a small section about it, 'cause it is kinda iffy. DarkSideOfTheSpoon 02:42, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Split

The article should really be split. The two live together, but they are very different, almost every episode that features them goes to great lengths to make that clear. 84.139.4.74 17:08, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree, theyre not even known as anything dual like the Bouvier twins (i.e. Carlson Twins) but by separate names and articles like the President and Prime Minister of Poland (which are twins btw).
How about we split the articles when they each hold separate high governmental offices, then? In the meantime, we mostly see them together and they are generally mentioned in one breath unless a whole plotline focuses around one of them.Lawikitejana 07:51, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Early evidence" of Patty's sexuality

This doesn't really qualify:

In "Saturdays of Thunder" when she is going through a list of hair style, she comments on one she didn't want by calling it "butch".

Girls make reference to various indices of fashion as butch all the time, homosexual or not. Just because a girl doesn't want to be butch doesn't mean she's a 'femme.'
