[edit] Clarification requested

In the "Character" section, we currently say

These are also the reason that he has been risen from rifleman to sergeant and then sergeant-major.

Um, what does "these" refer to?

Also, the wording seems wrong. Should we use "has been raised" instead of "has been risen"?

These are also the reason that he had been raised from rifleman to sergeant and then sergeant-major.

Similarily, in a preceding sentence, we should probably have "gave" instead of "had given":

... seven-barrelled Nock gun that Sharpe gave him as a present
