Patrick McCabe (rugby player)

Patrick McCabe (born 21 March 1988, Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian rugby union player contracted to the NSW Waratahs and the Warringah Rugby Club. He has an Irish background.

In September 2006 McCabe was called up to the NSW first team squad for a tour of Europe. He made his Waratahs debut in the number 14 jumper playing as a right winger against Northhampton Wanderers at Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton UK on Monday 2 October 2006. McCabe is played most often as a fullback.
On 9 October 2006, McCabe scored a crucial try for NSW against Leinster A in Dublin as the Waratahs finished their European Development Tour with a hard fought 20-17 victory. He crashed over in the 38th minute to level the scores 10-10 at the break.
At the NSW Waratahs Academy Awards held on the 26 April 2006 McCabe won the Academy Strength & Conditioning Achievement Award

At the schoolboy level, McCabe played fullback for the Australian Schoolboys. He was also fullback and captain of the NSW Second XV, represented Combined Associated Schools 1st XV and captained the First XV of St Aloysius' College. In this team he played alongside his twin brother Luke. Previously McCabe had represented NSW at u/16 level and Sydney at u/15's.
His twin brother Luke plays in a band called Baggot Zone.
