Patrick Matthews should not be confused with the 19th century Scottish fruit grower Patrick Matthew.

Patrick Matthews is the former bassist of Australian garage rock band The Vines, and currently the bassist of Youth Group. Founding The Vines with Craig Nicholls, Matthews famously left the stage and the band after Nicholls kicked a photographer in the face at Sydney's Annandale Hotel. He is now the official bassist of the Australian band Youth Group.

Older brother of John Matthews, the drummer for respected Sydney group - theredsunband.

Patrick and his brother John both attended Sydney Technical High School, Bexley.
