Patrick Hills

Patrick Darcy 'Pat' Hills (Sydney, 31 December 1917 - Sydney, 22 April 1992) was a New South Wales politician. Having been Lord Mayor of Sydney when only in his thirties - from 1953 to 1956 - he was Minister for Local Government in the cabinet of Premier Robert Heffron (1959-1964), and Deputy Premier under Heffron's successor Jack Renshaw. He was also the State Opposition Leader from 1968 to 1973, following Renshaw's departure from the Labor leadership. Afterwards Hills served in several portfolios, notably that of industrial relations, in the Labor government of Neville Wran from 1976 to 1986. Altogether he was in parliament for 33 years (1954-1988).
