Patrick Colleary
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Patrick Colleary is an Irish Roman Catholic priest accused of molesting a person under the age of 15 while pastor of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe, Arizona.
He was suspended in May 2002 after he admitted fathering a child with a Sharon Roy in 1978. Ms. Roy claims that the encounter was non-consensual.
Colleary was jailed for a month later in 2002 after being accused of molesting another young man, but charges were dismissed under the statute of limitations.
He was indicted on a separate charge of molestation and another warrant was issued for his arrest in 2003. Colleary is currently living in Ireland, and has fought extradition back to Arizona on the grounds that United States prisons are inhumane. It has been recently revealed that a major reason for the resistance to the extradition is that the Irish judge is concerned specifically about Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his methods of incarceration.
