Patricia Columbo (born June 21, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois) is a convicted murderer. She is sometimes referred to as "Patti" or "Patty", although she objects to the shortening. She was convicted in 1977 at the age of twenty, along with Frank Deluca, 37 at the time, of the massacre of her mother Mary, father Frank, and brother Michael.
[edit] The murders
Patricia and DeLuca met when she was sixteen. He was married at the time, and had five children. They quickly started a sexual relationship, which evolved into pornography. DeLuca would find black men for the young Patricia to have sex with while he photographed the encounter. He would spread maple syrup on her genitals and film dogs licking it off. Patti eventually moved out from her family's home in Elk's Grove, Illinois and into the DeLuca family home. There, she "serviced" DeLuca while his wife raised the children.
Eventually, Patricia and DeLuca moved into their own apartment. Patricia's father, Frank Columbo, encountered the pair at a Walgreens and smashed DeLuca in the face with a rifle butt. DeLuca became paranoid that a hit had been put on him by Patricia's father. Patricia contacted two local thugs, Roman Sobcyznski and Lanyon Mitchell, eventually supplying them with sessions of anal sex to get them to kill her family. They did not uphold their end of the bargain, however. On May 4, 1976, Patricia and DeLuca ambushed her family in their house; shooting her mother in the head and slitting her throat, shooting and bludgeoning her dad, and stabbing her thirteen year old little brother with a pair of scissors almost ninety times.
The trial was a national sensation, due to Patricia's young age and overt sexuality. DeLuca took the stand in his own defense, possibly harming their case. They were found guilty, and sentenced to 200-300 years in jail, but eligible for parole.
She has since received a college diploma while in prision.
