Pat Marcy

Pat Marcy was a senior Chicago Outfit boss who's job was to corrupt politicians, judges, union leaders,and Chicago police officers.

Marcy's real name was Pasqualino Marchone until he changed it,to erase the image of prison time he did in the 1930's for armed robbery. Marcy ran Chicago's old 1st Ward which encompassed Chicago's Downtown. Alderman Fred Roti and Democratic Committee John D'Arco, both "made members" of the Chicago Outfit, took their direct orders from Marcy who had the unassuming title of 1st Ward Secretary.

The FBI tried for over two decades to bring down Marcy. Finally,in the mid 1980's, the FBI got lucky when criminal defense Attorney Robert Cooley wore a wire while trying to bring down Marcy and Roti. Marcy was charged (91 CR 1045)with 1 Count of RICO Conspiracy, 1 Count of RICO, 6 Counts of Bribery,and 6 Counts of Extortion. Marcy died during the trial.

So senior was Marcy in the Chicago Outfit, that when casinos were being skimmed in Las Vegas the money was brought directly to Marcy and kicked up to be bosses like Tony Accardo. Marcy was instrumental in getting Mayor Jane Byrne to appoint William Hanhardt Chief of Detectives, the Mob's main plant on the Chicago Police Department.

Marcy was also instrumental in getting mob members and associates on the City of Chicago payroll often at the Department of Streets and Sanitation.More than a few judges in Cook County paid Marcy cash to be slated as a judges on the Cook County Democratic ticket. Marcy ran his operation from Counselor's Row restaurant which was right across the street from Chicago's City Hall. Pat Marcy's power was immense, Joseph Kennedy sought him out to meet Chicago Mob boss Sam Giancana when Kennedy was trying to line of union support for John F.Kennedy's 1960 Presidential bid. Marcy may have actually known Al Capone.
