Pat Hanratty is a Canadian social activist within the New Brunswick New Democratic Party (NDP), and currently serves as the party's president and interim leader.
Hanratty has run for the NDP in two provincial elections: in 2003 in the riding of Hampton-Belleisle where he placed third with 17.4% of the vote and in 2006, when the NDP's overall vote and particularly its vote in the Saint John area dropped substantially, Hanratty received 12.8% share of the vote in the new riding of Hampton-Kings which was larger than any other NDP candidate in the Saint John area, and third largest in the province.
Hanratty also ran in the 2004 federal election for the federal federal NDP in the riding of Fundy-Royal, finishing third with 16% of the vote.
In November 2006, following the resignation of Allison Brewer, Hanratty was named interim leader of the provincial NDP, a role he will serve until a leadership convention expected in the fall of 2007.
