Paschal Sheehy is the current Southern Editor for RTÉ's News programmes. He started with the station in 1999 when the news programmes underwent a slight face-lift to give them an edgier look by hiring a number of younger correspondents. Paschal's reports have become notorious for his use of metaphors and proverbs.

In 2005 Paschal Sheehy, along with fellow correspondent Jim Fahy and programme anchor Bryan Dobson, found new fame, being lampooned on Today FM's Gift Grub program. A character named Plastic Sheeting was created, who sounded like and behaved similarly to the Kerry reporter.
