As Wikipedia came to the attention of the public through press coverage and word of mouth, several sites designed to parody Wikipedia and wikis in general began to emerge.

Parodies include:

  • Encyclopedia Of Stupid [1]
  • Inciclopedia, a Spanish parody of Wikipedia. The site is a sister project of the English Uncyclopedia.
  • Kamelopedia, a German parody described as "eine mehrsprachige Enzyklopädie, deren Inhalte für immer frei nutzbar sind." [2]
  • Uncyclopedia, "the content-free encyclopedia that anyone can edit." [3] (started January 2005)
  • Wickerpedia, "the hard woven plant fiber encyclopedia" the name is a pun with wiki and wicker. [4] (started June 2005)
