[edit] Info Box Thing
There used to be a box thing on the right side of a part of the article that displayed her height, wieght, measurments, natural hair color, ect. What happened to it, its gone
[edit] Stop the Hate
I just wanted to say that it is very annoying how this discussion section is full of rude stuff about her that isn't even true. Wikipedia is devoted to truthfull and accurate articles, nothing like the 3 things below me. I just wanted to point out that Paris Hilton is a person, just like you and me, but she is just rich. Sure, she was a bit messed up in the past, but we all make mistakes, and she shouldn't be randomly called a slut and stuff in the wikipedia article, be aware that we have something for just that: www.uncyclopedia.org

[edit] German shepherd
"She initially became well known due to her participation in the reality series, The Simple Life and 1 Night in Paris, an unauthorized sex video of her with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon and a German Shepard who was later decapitated on film, which was leaked onto the Internet."
...Yeah...
[edit] Why is there no criticism section?
why is there no critical reception mentioned in this entry? ill tell you, cause paris and her minions are writing this themselves. thats why.
Paris Hilton is one of the most consistently criticized celebritys out there, it forms a large part of her reputation. The ommision of a criticism section doesn't make sense.
[edit] paris hilton is not a singer, an actress, and esp. not an author.
she may have "done" of all these things but that doesnt make her one. so she walked down a cat walk and actually got booed at DURING a movie. that doesnt mean shes an actress. My grandfather used to let me fly his plane does that make me a pilot?
Do you really think she wrote her own book? it is ok to list these things but come on. shes not an author. F Scott Fitzgerald was an author. Paris Hilton is a media whore.
[edit] hacked cell phone
Where is the section describing how Paris' address book being hacked? This was a really huge and well known thing that I would expect something as informative as wikipedia would have.
http://money.cnn.com/2005/02/21/technology/personaltech/hilton_cellphone/?cnn=yes
[edit] In Playboy in September?
Paris has posed for Playboy for the most recent issue (the one with the Girls Next Door pictorial). The spread involves around 10 photos, some completely nude and entirely revealing. EDIT: After doing some research, I discovered that Playboy did not get Hilton to pose nude, but rather paid a lot of money for a convincing look-a-like. Interesting...
The model's name is Natalie Reid, she's in the September issue and it's five pictures. *Jhouserok*
[edit] modeling question
when did paris start modeling?
I don't know the exact date, but she did runway shows before she was a household name, and then right when she started being a household name when when she got the gap ads. She did either a Maxim or FHM spread with sis Nikki way, way before the SImple Life started as well.
--71.135.121.89 04:37, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- I dont buy this "she did runway shows" stuff. why would a billionaire work on the catwalk. this is all publicity hype and wikipedia should look into what is going on here cause this entry reads like an advertisment.
[edit] Tonight Show with David Letterman?
It says she was on "the Tonight Show with David Letterman." Of course,it should be "the Late Show with David Letterman."
-
- There should be more content about how she was recieved on the late show. On what a joke she was.
[edit] WHAT HAPPENED???
Sorry but there's a commercial use of this article by yellow.de it's a publicity the way it is put i suggest you remove the link, itried to do so but...
To all the news like Paris' sidekick hacked, and all the other stunts??? Lil Flip246 ~
- Not nesacary for an encyclopedia, hardly worth noting. Removed. Celebrity-Benji 23:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
But that was major news. It was as big as her sex tape news. Lil Flip246 01:12, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not really. Maybe it was for a couple of weeks when it happened. But it didn't make much of an ongoing impact, it happened, and everyone involved moved on pretty quickly. Celebrity-Benji 01:39, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah but it was just as big as her sex tape. I mean hundreds of celeb phone numbers were released. Plus pics of her making out with an MTV VJ.Lil Flip246 11:19, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, but Wiki is not a news site, and it barely made much of an impact. The phone numbers and pictures were released, but it was qucikly forgotten. The majority of the celebrities whose numbers were leaked forgave Hilton soon after, and Hilton did not seem bothered by the leaked pictures at all. No way was it as big as her sex tape; which got a commercial DVD release.Celebrity-Benji 11:24, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I respectfully disagree with Celebrity-Benji on this point; in an age of information privacy breaches and thefts making the headlines, this was possibly the first and to date the largest celebrity personal information breach, and deserves mentioning on Wikipedia, and what better place than in this article? If it was there in the past, it ought to be restored; if it was never there, a new mention of it should be written. Robert K S 21:11, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
And if it's not a news site as you claim, we already know it's a fan site, why do you advertise release dates of albums and names of perfumes? is advertising allowed on wiki?
But this was the first incident in which hundreds of celebs phone numbers were released to the public. Lil Flip246 02:05, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- That's nice. Why did you post that twice? Celebrity-Benji 01:23, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
??????Lil Flip246 14:18, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
It's just as important news as her Sex tape. Lil Flip246 17:06, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- No, it isn't. --Golbez 18:21, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- I agree with Lil Flip, it was quite newsworthy, but readng the whole article alot of her stunts arent noted on the article. Hmmm Myrockstar 14:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
What happened to her Personal Life on the article?? She dated many stars such as Nick Carter. She was recently photographed kissing Brandon Davis. But nothing on her personal life is on the article either. Why is it NOT included?? What's the problem? Every other celebrity in the tabloids has a Personal Life section on their wikipedia pages. But not Paris, the biggest tabloid target of all?? Why?? Lil Flip246 17:23, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
What happened with her personal life. There are many articles like Madonna who have their personal life section. But this article says nothing. It doesn't even say about how Nicole and her have been friends since they were kids, and how they broke up. Lil Flip246 16:26, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
This is the worst article ever. I mean it doesn't have ANYTHING ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFE like all other articles have of famous celebs. It says nothing about her and Nicole's relationship. It says nothing about her famous hacked sidekick.. Lil Flip246 15:38, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

- I've fixed the article because it was very poorly arranged. Alot of her personal life was in the media spotlight, so I made a section for personal life. Please keep it arranged this way. Lil Flip246 17:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] To Thegoodson
Would you mind explaining why you continue to remove the {{citationneeded}} tag from the infobox? It still contains unsourced claims. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but there is a dispute over whether blonde is Hilton's natural hair color (not to mention the other unsourced details). Sources are needed for these claims. Kasreyn 22:29, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would prefer if we didn't use that tag at all in this article and removed the uncited information per WP:LIVING. --ElKevbo 22:39, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'll drink to that. Skal! Kasreyn 23:32, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
She's blonde. There is no if's, ands or buts about it. I once watched a clip about her on VH1 and they gave out the info. They stated that her eyes were brown and she was a natural blonde. I know that is not enough "evidence", but anyone that has seen it or anyone that knows anything about Paris Hilton, will know that she is a natural blonde. She's German/Scandinavian for christ sakes - what color hair do you expect her to have? Black? TheGoodSon 5:40, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Plenty of Germans and Scandinavians have brown hair. The color of her hair has been disputed here, and ElKevbo has pointed out that it's even better to simply remove the info box as it's not particularly useful. I'd tend to side with him if we can't find a source for the claims. You say that "anyone knows" these things - if that's the case, why do we need the infobox? Kasreyn 20:31, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] What happened to the "Trivia"/"Takeoffs" section?
I seem to remember that this article used to have a section labelled "Trivia" or "Takeoffs" or something, which contained stuff like how the female characters in White Chicks was a takeoff on Paris & Nicky Hilton, etc. If no one has any objection, I think I shall put it back in there, especially since the cartoon Luann currently has a storyline in which one of the characters is using "Sheraton St. Louis" as her stage name, which is obviously a takeoff on Paris Hilton :) -- Jalabi99 15:21, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I doubt this ditz is smart enough to come up with "Sheraton St. Louis." I wonder which of her handlers thought that up....
[edit] German-American?
A great-great grandparent on her father's side was German. At the risk of sounding pedantic, isn't such a connection a bit too distant to warrant a mention? It would be more accurate to classify her as of primarily British ancestry.

[edit] Paris and Nicholes Feud
Paris and Nicholes' feud is in regard to Nichole watching Paris' sex tape in a public theatre with friends.
That's actually just speculation, not confirmed. --71.135.121.89 04:39, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Criticisms???
Why is there no section on criticisms of any kind? Bihal 04:19, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Why? Who wants to be criticized anyway. Wallie 09:32, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's not a question of whether she wants to be. She has been heavily criticised by the public and in the public media and I think this should be mentioned and referenced. Bihal 04:14, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Tend to agree with Bihal. However, note that under WP:LIVING, criticisms and negative commentary about living persons must pass a stricter scrutiny in terms of verifiability. I would say that there are sufficient verifiable sources for at least some mention of her critics. Kasreyn 21:25, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- What's there to criticize? Billious 12:41, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- I have no idea, but I hear people criticizing her all the time. I came to this page to see if I could find out why. There does need to be criticism section here. -NorsemanII 17:22, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- The trouble with articles on tabloid celebrities like Ms. Hilton is that pretty much only the tabloid press will bother to report on them. Therefore, most of the sources for any claims - generally both the positive claims and the negative claims - are pretty unreliable by nature, because the papers and websites they are reported in have abysmal journalistic standards. After all, it's not like the New York Times is broadcasting her every move. Personally, I would think this would argue for a much smaller article as it indicates a much less notable celebrity, but that's just my $0.02. Cheers, Kasreyn 06:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think we need a criticism section on this article because many, many people think she is not a good artist.[citation needed] Alfredosolis
- I can agree with that in principle - its just that it could degenerate into a slanging session and numerous resultant reverts! How do you suggest we could address? Rgds - Trident13 15:58, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

So I wonder which person watching this page is employed by Miss Hilton and/or her publicist? It would explain the squeaky clean nature of this article. --66.222.240.194 01:17, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Suspicious! But honestly, what the hell happened to that racism thing, was it branded unnotable? 58.105.106.47 01:45, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, This horrible role model definitely needs a criticism section. I think 40 million mothers would agree there. Beyond the day to day moms, Rap Artist PINK blatently jabs Paris in the song "Stupid Girls", South Park in "Stupid Whore Video Playset", Nicole Richie has bashed her friend on multiple occasions. Even Paris father has critisied his daughters behavior in the press (an occasion where she lost a .5 million dollar on loan piece of jewelry). Her N Sync boyfriend didn't have very nice things to say about her at one point either. There have been several fueds with other celebrities. Oh, and in private she has been rumored to use the "n-word". I hope thats a good start. And as for you internet geeks trying to keep this as a temple to the Paris, The False Idol that you worship has multiple STD's.

- BILLIOUS?!?!?!?! "What's there to criticize? Billious" Are blind man!?!?!?! Have you ever googled PAris Hilton? She's a walking condemnation of wealth, western society, and celebrity. I can not think of one media outlet who doesn't condem, exploit, or mock her very existence. How much is she paying you to try and make her look good? Whatever it is it isnt enough....you must work realllllly hard to even make her apear human.

[edit] This article has improved so much
I used to complain about this article. It was rubbish. But now it is so much better. Keep up the good work! Wallie 00:42, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- This article stinks. What is good about it? It talks about her singing "career" like she has one, or like she has any talnet. She's a joke who is a "celebutaint" because she is thin, blonde, and realllllly rich.
[edit] Dabbled? Participated?
This lady has set the standard. She is brilliant, enlightened, unique, remarkable, even serene. Dabbled sounds something like mum doing art classes, whereas she can give masterclasses. This great women sings like Marilyn Monroe, acts like Ingrid Bergmann, models like Naomi Campbell, and writes like Mozart. Do you doubt it? Wallie 19:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Wallie, are you actually being serious or are you just joking around? I hesitate to put words in others' mouths and I try to always assume good faith, but I'm not sure we're even talking about the same person here... Marilyn Monroe? Mozart?
- Perhaps a synonym for "dabble" can be found which retains the essential meaning of "To undertake something superficially or without serious intent", but with a less negative connotation - is that what you mean? Because of course, it would be inappropriate to misrepresent Hilton as being more devoted to any particular field than she actually has been. There's no shame in a young person not yet having decided what to do with her life. No one expects Ms. Hilton to have decided yet, so I don't see how it's inappropriate to note her experimenting with various activities. Kasreyn 21:23, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Right. I will have to choose my words very carefully here... I merely made a comment about the wording to describe Paris Hilton. I did not invite a personal attack from you about being "taken seriously" and "not acting in good faith". OK. Since you have bought the discussion down to this level, let's continue it. I know when to be serious, and when to joke around. Do you? You tried to initiate a discussion on the Holocaust discussion page of all places, involving some teenage pop stars, and their extreme anti-Jewish ideas. I won't go into details, out of respect to fans of dear Paris Hilton, who read this page. I think it is OK to have a light hearted discussion on this page, due to the nature of the person we are discussing. and how she would have liked us to behave. However, the Holocaust discussion page should be treated more seriously, do you not think. A final piece of advice. Do not initiate attacks on other people, who do not warrant them, even if you think they are easy going. Everyone has a limit to their patience. Wallie 12:11, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- I was attempting to find a polite way of saying that I couldn't disagree more with your assessment of Hilton's talents. And forgive me, but my interpretation of you had been that of a fairly easygoing type, willing to make a joke here and there, and so I thought you might be joking. Apparently I misjudged. Also, there is no need to drag extraneities into this discussion, and I feel it's inappropriate for you to do so. Please keep this discussion to Paris Hilton alone from now on. Kasreyn 22:27, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK. That's fine with me. And I agree with you. I am still easygoing, but like to give people a nip sometimes. You know.. like a puppy. Wallie 22:32, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Well... I dont think alot of people would agree with you, but in any event, wikipedia is a neutral veiw, and as thus, I dont think "masterpiece" would be the right word for her works...
Dabbled? Participated? or lent her name to?... There should be asection in this article that explains that Paris did not really do any of her nightclub business, record label, fashion design, etc. herself. It goes without saying that she's simply not capable of that sort of entrpreneurship. Rather, her status as a celebrity makes it possible for her to be so valuable as a mascot that she can achieve ownership of anything she wishes to be a mascot for. What's more, her album, which she didn't write, is absolutely chock full of auto-tuning and melodyne style digital fixes. The question is, how do we present this truth objectively? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.198.46.150 (talk • contribs) .
- Rubbish! Wallie 22:32, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
- Heh. Wallie, it would seem your foil has arrived. I'm tempted to just sit back and watch you two fight it out, but, nah. Please note that neither of you have any sources on whether Paris was personally involved in any of her "achievements" aside from her music videos. Therefore we can't make a statement either for or against. Kasreyn 11:49, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- all of you must be working for Paris. Are you her publicity person? looking at the wiki entry and the lovefest that part of the talk page is either there are fanboys and fangirls in control here or someone is getting paid off.
[edit] images from the cartoon
The two pictures posted from the proposed cartoon series were originally posted at The Superficial, but it appears they've now taken them down because the drawings were not from the cartoon but some unrelated project. Just a heads up. -- (Lee)Bailey(talk) 20:48, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
OK then we can take them off if they are not real. The cartoon series is supposed to be like The Simpsons so those images didn't make very much sense. Jtervin 13:58, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Time of release of the sex tape
I've noticed a contradiction on the time of the release of the sex tapes. In this article on the sixth paragraph of the "Background" section, it says that the sex tapes were released shortly after the Simple Life debuted. However, at the 1 Night in Paris article, it says in the first paragraph that the tapes were released shortly before the Simple Life debut. If anyone can cite some sources here, it would be nice. Thanks.--Methegreat 20:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] General Information
The beginning of this article refers to her as "multi-talented". I take issue with the "talented" part, as simply participating in a large number of public activities does not necessarily imply any talent whatsoever. -AK
- I take issue with the "multi" part as well. I believe that pretty much covers all of it. MarkThomas 21:50, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Couldn't agree more! Away with it! Pathlessdesert 12:56, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- What do I have to do to convince you guys that this is a good one? After all she has been called "blonde icon of the decade". C'mon guys. I am looking for the right word. Highly accomplished, multi-talented and remarkable have already been rejected. Is virtuoso OK? Wallie 17:51, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Wallie, whatever word you want to use, find a reliable source for it first, then we will use it. Bihal 00:48, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Major Changes
I've made alot of changes. I placed things on appropriate sections. I've also added information about Paris as a fashion model. Lil Flip246 01:06, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Paris YouTube
someone should add Paris YouTube article. she made an official YouTube account on 21st of August, and she acknowledge the YouTube community with her videos. her account apparently the most watched in YouTube. HoneyBee 00:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- You can add that if you want. Lil Flip246 22:57, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- No you can't - what article is this? HawkerTyphoon 23:00, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- there's no source for this though, but she's been using YouTube to promote her album: http://youtube.com/profile?user=ParisHilton (her official acount) HoneyBee 06:37, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- No you can't - what article is this? HawkerTyphoon 23:00, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sex tape
I'm don't think a leaked sex tape would really fit in the category of her "filmography." Although it actually is kind of funny as a joke...--Foot Dragoon 22:59, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's an official release. She gets some of the money from the sales. Thus, it qualifies. --DieHard2k5 23:13, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Personally I think the sex tape is rather neglected in the entire article. While the lead correctly names the tape as maybe the primal reason for her fame, it is very much hidden in the remaining text and only pops up under "actress / film" which seems somewhat euphemistic; you could almost get the impression this has some artistic value. Several semi-notable projects of hers have their own section in the article, therefore I'd say the sex tape definitely deserves a separate mention, especially since the movie has its own WP article. Some points of interest for a sex tape section would be (a) the video content itself, (b) the circumstances of its release, (c) the effect on her celebrity, (d) her response to its release. Sloan21 16:45, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
There is a clip from the sex tape here, maybe it should be added. 1NightInParis 13:06, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Paris Hilton release a Linux distribution... http://www.bbspot.com/News/2006/08/paris-hilton-tinkerbell-linux.html
- Hmmm... The link to this distribution is broken. I don't think it's reliable; as well as not existing. Highly un-reliable, due to the fact of this and this. Iolakana•T 11:41, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
BBSpot is a tech humour site... sorta like the linux version of The Onion .
[edit] Please do not use Paris hilton in the same stature as Pandit Ravi Shankar
This is with regards to the comment about Paris Hilton being of similar stature to Pandit Ravi Shankar. Pandit Ravi Shankar is a renowned musicaian with an in born talent and is a highly respected person in india. Please do not even equate him to someone liek Paris Hilton. She is famous and is an heiress , however the respect adn knowledge of Pandit Ravi shankar is held in high esteem. Please change that statement so as to at least respect soemone like Pandit ravi Shankar.
Thank you regards 203.166.28.81 05:53, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Shweta 08/09/2006
- Pandit Ravi Shankar is held in high esteem. However he is not unique. Others such as Heifitz or Segovia are also held in high esteem in Lithuania and Spain too. Paris Hilton is also recognized in her industry. so much so that she has been even noticed by the Indian Film Industry, the leading producer of films in the World. Always remember that Paris is also held in high esteem, has great stature and is highly respected in her own country, the United States of America. Wallie 06:36, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
-
- Hilton is not respected in the United States by anyone other than a few people in the industries that make money off her. Well no, that's not true - I respect her choice fo cars. She was arrested for DUI while driving a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, which is a damn fine automobile. --Golbez 20:37, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
-
- Edit: Oh, and you, I guess. --Golbez 20:38, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I respect her, and I'm in the US. (female) M8gen
- Thank you, M8gen. Obviously a thinking man. Wallie 20:24, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- I find it hard to believe anyone would respect someone who acts like white trash (eg. wearing short skirts with no underwear) and actually uses the words "like" and "y'know" when she speaks. On that topic, I believe references should be made to the South Part episode and the incident I mentioned above. Just to give a full picture of the person. Bihal 04:21, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

-
- I won't speak to my levels of respect for Paris Hilton, since they're fairly non-existent, but I agree that there's really no basis of comparison between her and Ravi Shankar. The latter is an accomplished, classically-trained musician, whereas Ms. Hilton is a dilettante at best, and a rank amateur at worst.
-
-
-
- White trash. Now lets keep this clean, gentlemen. White trash could be even considered a touch racist to some. But Paris would not get upset over such slurs. She is a bonnie lass. And classy too. Ravi Shankar would certainly admire Paris. As I mentioned earlier, he did know and admire Segovia and Heifetz too. But I guess you would call them white trash too. Wallie 20:33, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why Paris Hilton is Famous?
She is listed for being an actress even though she appeared in one movie as a breif cameo and as a singer even though, well, she can't sing. Anyone can be famous nowadays
- She can sing. She has soared to number 1 in the charts in numerous lands. She has a beautful lyrical voice which some experts say resembles that of Lily Pons. She is a very young woman, whose career has not yet peaked. Wallie 17:53, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- ROFL. "She has a beautful lyrical voice which some experts say resembles that of Lily Pons" Quote of the year. 65.30.46.163 00:06, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
QFT. Xd!!!
-
- She is (a) very rich and (b) fairly cute. I think that explains it fully. The rest is just frippery. I believe this whole page could be about two sentences long and not significantly lose informational content. Lots of people envy her, perhaps understandably, but that's not the reason the page should be shorter, just the sheer lack of actual attainment to mark her out for this much coverage. Otherwise perhaps anyone who is just rich should have a long page on WP? MarkThomas 21:50, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
She's Famous For Being A Fool!
Personally, i feel the first paragraph should be edited, so that it doesn't make Paris seem more talented and important than she really is. I might do the honourable duty of editing it later.
[edit] Wallie
Wallie, if you consider to insert peacock fluff that you know will be reverted because 1) It's not neutral, 2) It's your opinion, and 3) It's not cited, I will be forced to take further dispute resolution action against you. You are nearing the level of disruption, where we spend more time removing your fluffery than we do actually working on the article. (Well not me, I'm just here to clean up vandalism. But I'm sure others do.) Please stop. --Golbez 22:34, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- You may consider my input to be POV. But so is a lot of other negative stuff written about her. I am sure that my thoughts in the long run will seem more sensible than yours. For example, the fact that she has had sex with her boyfriend will not seem very relevant in, say 2030, whereas her fame and talent will. I don't think I am being reverted because of what I say, more that so many people are so obviously jealous of Miss Hilton. As for taking dispute resolution action against me, that is exactly the sort of action I would expect from you. It is a pity that you admins have so much power and abuse it. Wallie 18:44, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- The existence of POV does not mean you get to add your own. It means removing the POV. Stop it. --Golbez 23:39, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

- This may prove illustrative. Cheers, Kasreyn 06:19, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

- But Wallie, we are not writing this encyclopedia from the viewpoint of 2030. We're not here to look into our crystal ball. WP is written from a contemporary viewpoint. Who knows? Maybe you're right, and Paris Hilton will soon find some direction for her life and do something really wonderful with all that money that's lying around going to waste. Maybe in 2030 she will have the sort of humanitarian reputation Angelina Jolie has. But in 2006, the public doesn't seem to share your high opinion of her yet. All we can do is reflect the situation as it is. Let the editors of 2030 worry about the Wikipedia of 2030. Cheers, Kasreyn 05:39, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Could someone find out just why her eye is so freaky? That one - left? - is always half closed. It's disgusting.
- You must be very lucky to be so good looking that you can criticize the imperfections of others not up to your own fabulous appearance. Well, I have news for you. Not all of us look as perfect as you do. Paris's beauty comes from her overall appearance, not any one part of her. Her beauty radiates from her soul. Wallie 18:24, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Should mention be made about the various parodies made about here. Notably the episode in South Park- Stupid Spoiled Whore
Wallie do you hope that by staunchly defending Miss Hilton that one day she will by chance read this talk page, and become so enamoured with your PR crusade that she will track you down and sleep with you? Just curious

[edit] A lot of you seemed to miss this one, so I'm going to put it here:
This is a talk page for discussion of the article about Paris Hilton. It is NOT for discussion of Paris Hilton herself, unless that discussion involves improving the article. In particular, it is not for discussion about whether or not Paris Hilton is "good" or "bad"; or finding out what unnecessary information this does not help in improving Wikipedia. Ohyeahmormons 02:30, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- We don't have to discuss whether she is good or bad. If she is bad, then the article is just perfect as it stands, and does not need improving. If she is good, then the article is terrible, which it is, and no one could improve it as they would immediately be reverted, as the powers to be do not want anything good to be written about Ms. Hilton. Wallie 15:55, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
have you ever thought that you could possibly be a FAN of this whore, and thus not objective about her? Just curious...she is heavily criticized, heavily satirized and IMHO she also hasn't any talent aside from giving great blowjobs to her boyfriends...that's all 84.222.149.171 00:08, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

- Wallie has to be a fangirl nothing else short of being in love with Paris, being Paris herself, or Wallie being on Paris' payroll can explain what Wallie says. Wallie is a stooge of Paris.
[edit] This whole page needs cutting down to about 1 sentence
How can so much be written about such a useless airhead? The whole page should be replaced with the sentence "Paris Hilton is a spoiled, overindulged, useless brat, who has achieved nothing except demonstrating on TV how to mis-spend her stupid family's money. Wikipedia is too important to display all the trivial guff that surrounds this nonentity and declines to do so. For further information, see airheads." MarkThomas 08:24, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hear hear. PS: She's a white trash slut whore. :D - Peter Bjørn Perlsø 03:03, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Just because you do not like a certain character, doesn't mean they are not important. You don't like her because she has money? Isn't that called being prejudice? Also, please read the top of the page. This article is not for discussing Paris Hilton, unless it would be benficial to the main article. Peterwill 18:54, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for that Peterwill - now I have the rant out of my system though, I've calmed down. However, I can't agree that I wasn't discussing something deeply beneficial to the main page. Really she isn't a person of importance and Wikipedia is not supposed to have junk articles in it. MarkThomas 19:36, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I have to disagree. Anyone who was not "a person of importance" would not appear on the front page and other pages of the newspaper so often. I have noticed that she has been constantly in the limelight for the past seven years! I can't remember any woman that famous for a long time. I believe that the likes of Amelia Erhardt and Grace Kelly were that famous, but then again that was a long time ago. Wallie 22:45, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
-
- Madonna, Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie? If you can't remember any then perhaps you aren't trying hard enough. --Golbez 05:17, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Madonna, maybe. But then again, she was usually overshadowed by Princess Di. All these three, including Madonna have already "had their day". I still have a soft spot for Britney, but the media seems to have written her out. Paris is still on top, and will remain so for a very long time, I suspect. She about the biggest thing thats happened, at least in my lifetime anyway. Wallie 14:28, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- This is hardly the place to be discussing various levels of fame, but once again, the comparison between someone like Madonna and someone like Paris Hilton is truly ludicrous. While I agree that she has enough media presence to warrant a page on Wikipedia, I also feel as though there's room to reduce it substantially. Of course, at the end of the day, the levels of work put in by individual writers are their own decision, but as someone who really has only achieved any notoriety courtesy of her publicity team and an inherited fortune, it seems a bit ridiculous to spend excessive amounts of time producing/editing/collating content regarding this woman. - Please refrain from personal attacks, your comments above strike me as unnecessarily rude. One's dislike for the subject of an article should never devolve into personal comments about the editors. "...even George Bush is disliked by some." That has to be the funniest thing I've read this week :)
-
- You don't need to be POV to point out that this wiki entry is treating Paris Hilton with greater respect as a "singer actress," as if she could do either, than she deserves. There should be an entire criticisms section with cited references to how critics have panned her.
-
- Her career has been managed by a publicity agent and press agent and whatever to keep her in the spotlight just like madonna and spears and all the celebs. once you start falling of the rador you let out a sex tape. a person whos celebrity is based on sex tapes, being wasted on camera, and acting stupid just to stay in the limelight isnt a very talented celebrity.
-
-
- Well maybe that should be the point of this wiki entry. that critics (and the public) don't think she is a talented celebrity.

- Maybe the entire singing thing needs to be treated less seriously. Say, to the equal of her talent, longevity, et cetera. How about some printed critical reception?
[edit] Of German nationality?
Although it's evident she's American, it is news to me that Paris is a German national. Has anyone a cite?
Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JZ8vxcOMhw
She isn't a German national by any means. Rather, her great-great grandfather on her father's side was a German migrant. Hardly enough to be considered "German".
- it seems it's enough for german laws...
-
- No, it's not. Go read the German nationality laws for yourself if you must.
But if his granfather had a German citizenship, her father was allowed to have it to, waht would allow her to become a German, isn't it rght?
- This discussion is degenerating into absurdity. Let's put this all into perspective. Miss Hilton's great-great-great-grandfather, Conrad Laufersweiler, was her nearest German-born relative. That is simply too far back to claim German nationality. Furthermore, German citizenship is automatically lost when a German citizen voluntarily acquires the citizenship of another country, meaning simply that it cannot be passed down through generations after migrating. Miss Hilton would have more luck claiming Norwegian ancestry, but even that is quite far fetched.
[edit] Whoa, wait a second!!
An entire section, and I mean an entire section of this article needs to be dedicated to her racist remarks. It's been proven in her sex tape and from a couple of her acquaintances... I repeat, an entire section. Panda —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.176.137.205 (talk • contribs).

well sir, anyone with common sense would conclude that paris' use of words are actually worse than these politicians you speak of. if one is using racist remarks (like any use of racist remarks are really justifiable???...) on the premise of them being untouchable due to their clout.. that would make their comments more ignorant than those of political affluence. [edit] Herpes
Why is there no mention in her Wikipedia article about the incident where one of her ex-boyfriends told her current boyfriend that Paris Hilton is spreading the Herpes virus? I smell a cover-up. I think this whole page about her is clearly written by her supporters, with the express intent of painting her in the best possible light. - Probably because there are no reliable sources for this. Do you have any? Due to libel concerns, we are especially vigilant about negative information about living people that is not very strongly sourced. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 18:11, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
-->
- Yes there are plenty of reliable sources out there for this story. We know factually that (a) a restraining order was filed against Paris Hilton, (b) she threatened her ex-boyfriend, saying he'd be "a dead man" if it got out, and (c) that the ex-boyfriend informed her current boyfriend of her having herpes. All you have to do to find sources is query "Paris Hilton herpes" within any of the reputable search engines. Is Wikipedia trying to hide this information from the public to protect Paris Hilton's "untarnished, innocent" reputation? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.211.173.182 (talk • contribs).
- Editors: this comes from the same editor who thinks Britney Spears married actor Jason Alexander. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 00:54, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- You could get a lot of unreliable information from search engines, and are you trying to say that it's verifiable information because one person told another person? Rzrscm 01:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Irrespective of that however, the information is there on the web; one only need query "Paris Hilton Herpes" into a search engine, and receive multiple sources detailing the restraining order against Paris Hilton and the herpes-related news. Why must you people at Wikipedia suppress information that is both relevant and widely reported on? I think this has to do with painting Paris Hilton in the best possible light - this truly smacks of bias, which really surprises me, because I thought this was supposed to be an online encyclopedia of all pertinent information regarding items of interest. And furthermore, this page of Paris Hilton is clearly written by people who are pro-Paris Hilton.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.211.173.182 (talk) 01:02, 6 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Asking About Norwegian-American
What happened to the information saying that Paris Hilton is Norwegian-American? I added Norwegian-American to her categories as the information on Wikipedia said that she was of Norwegian descent. Both the information and the category are gone. Can someone please explain why? I’m not whining or anything, I’m just wanting to know why they went. [edit] media spotlight pov
In particular, the part about Paris abstaining from sex seems to go on and on. Then right under it, it is noted that she was parodied on South Park. But that's all it says. One sentence. She was parodied on South Park......and? If the writer of this section felt it necessary to ramble about her abstinence having her feelings hurt and other things (that portray Paris in more positive light), why not at least make a tiny bit of effort to include more info about the SP episode? The title of the episode(Stupid Spoiled Whore Playset), and the plot device are both in reference to her sex tape. This isn't mentioned, Why? Two sentences would be too much? It doesn't make sense, with the detailed topics directly above the SP thing.
There are other examples of well-disguised POV elsewhere in the article, but that South Park thing at the end really sticks out and should be easy to fix without much contention...right? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.245.138.168 (talk) 08:23, 8 December, 2006 (UTC)
-
- What does that have to do with POV? I'm pretty sure REAL events in her life are a lot more important to write about than her being PARODIED on South Park. Rzrscm 13:16, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Yet all of Paris' quotes defending herself and gong on about how she doesn't give it up are so important? Just stating that she is abstaining and linking the source would have sufficed. As I already said, that part of the section drags on, creating a stark contrast between the South Park part.
Like I said, ONE sentence to describe that the SP episode spoofed the whole sex tape thing. Why do you seem vehemently opposed, and have nothing to say about my other points?
The section looks odd. It appears as if the South Park thing is "tacked on" at the very end, like the writer didn't want to put it there AT ALL, but knew they had to.
It's POV because most of the "media spotlight" on Paris has been negative. You know it, everyone knows it. The section mentions almost NONE of that and is just two excuses/explanations/defenses of Paris, portraying her in a positive (read POV) light. No mention of the racial slurs, the Tinkerbell thing, not one mention of her DUI (all incidents Paris and/or her PR people have made statements about), none of it. That section is candy-coated.
One more time....You don't think it looks funny that section is basically like this:
"playboy picture blah blah blah blah blah
"abstinence blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
"people say mean things about Paris and her response is blah blah blah blah blah blah
"Paris was parodied on South Park." end of section. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.245.138.168 (talk) 13:59, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

- Yes, I agree that stuff like her racial slurs, Tinkerbell switch-up, DUI, etc should be in it...But a parody of her on South Park is completely irrelevent. A South Park parody could portray anybody in any light they want, and they do. Rzrscm 01:16, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
--> I agree. The stuff about her racial slurs should be in the article. And I also agree that the entire article appears to be tilted towards a favorable view of Paris Hilton. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 129.33.49.251 (talk) 15:47, 8 December, 2006 (UTC)

- I do agree that it looks funny (in fact I've been tempted to remove it before), but I don't think focusing on a South Park parody for a "negative" view is the way to go here, simply because it's doesn't tell the reader much about Hilton. However, if you can find reliable sources for the incidents you mention above (racial slurs, Tinkerbell incident?), definately feel free to add them. The DUI incident is mentioned in the previous section, though perhaps can be expanded in Media spotlight. -SpuriousQ 20:20, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
