Talk:Parasailing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hmmm. I thought parasailing was the resort amusement ride where they attach a parachute and pull you behind a ski boat. --Robert Merkel

So did I. I assumed this was a difference in usage between British and American English. I will check this out. GrahamN

You are right. An American paragliding site says "If you want to offend a paragliding pilot, refer to their sport as parasailing." !http://www.paraglide.com/index.html#Parasailing GrahamN

I've added the categories - Parachuting, extreme sports, and water and air sports. It' related to parachuting, it's an extreme version of skiing (at least it started out that way), and it's involving the air. It may also be considered a water sport, but I wasn't sure to add that one. Pejorative.majeure 22:09, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
