[edit] Plot Synopsis
In an effort to impress his high school crush, Kimmy Burton, Nitz tries to pack as many first week college experiences into the 3.5 hours before the dorm mixer as is humanly possible. With a little help from Gimpy and his minions, a self-hazing Rocko manages to be accepted into the Alpha Alpha fraternity.
[edit] Summary
High school buddies Parker "Nitz" Walsh, Cal Evans, Justin "Gimpy" Taylor and Rocko Gambiani all begin their freshman year in college. Nitz and Cal are roommates residing in Chilton Hall at State U. Gimpy, the stereotypical nerd, goes to nearby Tekerson Tech. Rocko goes to a local community college. Tensions begin to arise between the friends when Rocko pledges the fraternity Alpha Alpha, placing him at odds with Gimpy, who says "frat boys and nerds are mortal enemies."
Nitz encounters Jessie, a tomboy-ish girl from his floor, going through his room. While the two are in conversation, Kimmy Burton arrives at Nitz and Cals room. Nitz, it turns out, has had a huge fixation with Kimmy since high school. Upon learning of a mixer on Nitz and Cal's floor, Kimmy mentions she will be there and would like to hear all of Nitz's stories from his first week. After she leaves, he realizes he has done nothing since arriving at State U.
As Nitz tries to cram as many experiences he can in three hours, Rocko is on a rampage of self-destruction. He has decided to haze himself in the name of Alpha Alpha after the fraternity mentions they are no longer allowed to haze. Gimpy sends his prized minion, Mump, to spy on Rocko and observe his behavior. When it becomes apparent he will not be steered away from the fraternity, Gimpy sends his men on a mission to sabotage Rocko's chances of being accepted into the brotherhood. However, this fails and actually succeeds in getting Rocko admitted to the fraternity.
Nitz is unsuccessful in his search of experiences, only ending up laying his "Kimmy story" on unwitting listeners. When it becomes apparent that Kimmy will not be coming to the mixer, Nitz self-destructs emotionally, only to be calmed later by his new friend Jessie. All in all, the episode ends with the high school friends reconciling and vowing for a good Saturday night.

[edit] Allusions
The show consistently makes allusions to other shows/movies/music, most often either of George Lucas' "triologies" Star Wars and Indiana Jones. This is a list of allusions from this episode:
- Numerous Star Wars references:
- The episode starts with the group watching a bootleg DVD of the movies.
- Gimpy relates frat guys and nerds as mortal enemies akin to Jedi and Sith.
- Gimpy calls Rocko Anakin Skyrocko, a play on Anakin Skywalker.
- When Gimpy briefs his men, he uses a set-up like that in A New Hope, even quoting the movie by said "Many Bothans died for this information, so let's put it to good use."
- Gimpy relates Rocko to Lando Calrissian.
- Gimpy's set-up for viewing his minions when they infiltrate the frat, and their ensuing foray into the home, is a parody of the movie Aliens.
- Mump quotes a line (said by Hudson, a marine portrayed by Bill Paxton) from the movie: "Game over man! Game over!"
- Rocko's hallucination of Mump is that of the The Great Gazoo from the Hanna-Barbera Cartoons show The Flintstones.
- Gimpy uses a blow-up version Captain Kirk as a punching bag. This stems from the fact that Gimpy values Star Wars over Star Trek.
- The beginning of the "Risk" episode is a parody of a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
[edit] Trivia
- Number of times in the episode Cal says "Guy": 11
- The beginning of the episode shows the group playing Risk, which would later have a whole episode devoted to the group playing.
- Nitz and Cal room number is 543.
- Nitz's flier for the mixer reads "@ Chilton Hotel", not Chilton Hall.
- State U's bookstore is called "Barn and Boarder", perhaps a play on Barnes and Nobles and Borders bookstores.
- A curious character named Chief Justice Burger of Burgerland is shown in the episode; apparently a take on McDonald's Mayor McCheese.
