Parnon

Parnon or Malevo is a mountain ridge on the east of the Laconian plain. Its height is 1 940 m. It is visible from Athens above the top of the Argive mountains.

The Parnon range separates Laconia from Arcadia and is predominantly limestone. The Mountain is home to the fifth deepest cave in Greece, the Peleta Sinkhole (depth as of 2000 is -493m) and the impressive Vertical cave Propantes (-315m).
