Pare Gabia are considered to be the world most famous espadrille. The word "pare gabia" is a Basque word meaning matchless. For 70 years the company Pare Gabia have been based in Sainte Marie de Gosse in the sounth of France, the home of the espadrille. Each shoe is hand sewn to join the canvas to the sole and it is this experienced workmanship that gives this brand its famous durability. In recent years the designers at Pare Gabia have concentrated on radical re-designs of the classic espadrille style, incorporating wedged heels and ballet style uppers.
