Parasika Kingdom

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parasikas were an early Iranian tribe who lived close to western Himalaya ranges. As a result, they had frequent contact with ancient India. They were often mentioned in the epic Mahabharata, particularly when Arjuna visited their country during his northern military campaign for Yudhisthira's Rajasuya sacrifice.

According to most scholars, the Parasikas were probably a branch of the Achaemenid Persians who became one of the many early Iranian invaders of ancient India. Parasika is a Sanskrit corruption of "Parsi" or Persian.
