From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parachute, released in 1970 is the Pretty Things' fifth studio album, following S.F. Sorrow and preceding Freeway Madness. The album was a atmospheric masterpiece almost repenting from the dissonant British Blues of their first few albums.
The reviews at time of release were very positive, bestowed by Rolling Stone Magazine as the Album of the Year for 1970, over Let it Be by the Beatles, Deja' Vu by Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominoes, Teaser and the Firecat by Cat Stevens, Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival, L.A. Woman by the Doors, Pearl by Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin, After the Gold Rush by Neil Young, Moondance by Van Morrison, Fun House by the Stooges, Loaded by the Velvet Underground, and Bridge over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, Grammy Winner as the Best Rock Album of the Year.
