In the fictional universe of Mobile Suit Gundam, Captain Paolo Cassius, a man of Portuguese descent, was the plank owner captain of the Earth Federation mobile suit carrier White Base. Mortally wounded during the Zeon attack on Side 7, he died a few days later, command passing to Ensign Bright Noa. Shortly after his death, he was given a military funeral, and his body was committed to the sea of space.
