[edit] PanoTools group?

Since this title can point to multiple articles, I suggest we make it a disambiguation page WP:D. The page was originally a redirect to the panotools software and should remain so until it is discussed here. Changing it on your own and clearly against what other editor's wishes are could be considered vandalism. Let's discuss here. Roguegeek 05:54, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Where have you been ?

The PanoTools group was created in April of 2003 and continues to have 1000+ visitors a day. The PanoTools content is well index in the search engines. There is nothing to discuss and stop the vandalism of this page. There is a link to "Panorama Tools (Software)" if the user wishes to visit that page. -John Spikowski - PanoTools Administrator

Understand. The way you are going about editing is wrong, though. I'm saying this page is very general. It's quite obvious you're trying to point general articles towards your own user group site, though. I suggest you make a "PanoTools group" article or something along those lines instead of taking this page and keep the subject matter to the general group and not simply your site (which it looks to be). Of course, it could be linked here if it was to be made into a WP:D page. Thoughts? Anyone else have suggestions? Roguegeek 06:17, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Please explain why you feel this link to a wiki with only 2 users is a valid external reference as defined by Wikipedia.

And other than the fact that it's your own personal web site and you just really want it up on wikipedia. Roguegeek 07:31, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

This page is about the PanoTools group. Stop trash our page ! Can't you find anything better to do with your time?

Upon further review, I conclude this article title is far to general for any one specific topic dealing with the PanoTools software or the PanoTools group. I suggest we take one of the following actions:

1 - Turn this page into a WP:D page and link both the Panorama Tools software page and the PanoTools group here.
2 - Turn this page into a comprehensive article on all PanoTools subjects that would include information on what the original software is and the story its origins, how it is used by the panorama community, and the 3rd party software that spawned from it.
3 - Merge the current stub data into the Panorama Tools (software) article because the group revolved around the software and only exists because of it.

One and two don't make much sense to me. One because there isn't THAT much info provide and two because the community/group revolves around the software and not the other way around. The third merge suggestion makes more sense to me considering there isn't much information that can be combined currently on Wikipedia. We should start here and if we find the article is getting to large, we can make a decision to split it at that time. I am going to change the article back into a redirect at this time because the info currently on this article is only a stub and far more information can be found on the Panotools software article. Let's discuss this intelligently and respectfully while trying to avoid the edit wars that some people like to create. The editors should be in agreement before making any changes which is why we will revert this article back to it's original form. Thoughts? Roguegeek 07:58, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

The admins have also agreed this article should remain a redirect. Roguegeek 19:21, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
