- Pana means 'snow knife' in Inuktitut.
- Pana is also the Tagalog word for bow, bow as in bow and arrow.
- Pana is also a word in Venezuelan Spanish meaning 'friend,' 'friendly,' 'nice,' or variations thereof. It is mostly used with the first meaning, often to address a person.
- Pana, Illinois is a small city in central Illinois, once known as the rose city. Pana at one time had the most acres of roses growing in greenhouses in the US. Energy costs forced the closing of the greenhouses in the 1970 and 80's.
- Pana is the shortened version of the name of Greek-American illustrator Pana Stamos, whose full name is Παναγιώτα Σταματοπούλου. Amusingly, 'pana' (πάνα) means 'diaper' in Greek.
- Pana is a unit of money in some ancient Hindu texts.
