Pan American Center
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pan American Center is a multi-purpose arena in Las Cruces, New Mexico, located on the campus of New Mexico State University. The arena opened in 1968 and is currently undergoing a major renovation scheduled for completion prior to the 2006-07 basketball season. The arena is known for its parquet-style playing surface (named Lou Henson Court) and raucous fans, particularly in the student section. Prior to the renovation, the arena's capacity was listed at 13,071. The final post-renovation seating capacity is not yet known, but it is not expected to increase or decrease significantly. It is home to the NMSU Aggies men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. In addition to sporting events, the arena has been a prolific host to numerous concerts and other events. The facility will host the 2007 and 2008 Western Athletic Conference men's and women's basketball tournaments.
