Pan-European Pipeline
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pan-European is a proposed oil pipeline from Constanţa in Romania via Serbia and Croatia to Trieste in Italy. The aim of 1,319-kilometre long pipeline is to bypass Turkish straits in the transportation of Russian and Caspian oil. The pipeline, which would cost about 2 billion euro, will feed refineries in South-Eastern Europe, Italy, Austria and Bavaria at least with 40,000,000 ton of oil per year.
The project was proposed in 2002. After long negotiation period Slovenia stepped back from joining the project. A signing of memorandum of understanding on the construction of the pipeline was several times delayed. The new time for signing is scheduled in October 2006.
