Talk:Palindromic phrases

The sections from English down to Telugu are duplicated twice! AnonMoos 23:06, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, this page seems to have got totally screwed. I don't know what has happened and it's a lot of material to compare and check, so to be on the safe side what I have done is reverted it back to its original state just after I copied the whole lot over from the Palindrome article. This means that two or three edits (including yours) have been lost, but it seems they were only deletions so I hope this will be OK to reapply. Matt 23:40, 25 December 2005 (UTC).

- OK, thanks...

[edit] The "foul language not shown" Chinese palindrome
(foul language not shown) "Guests from Cheung Chau have long genitals" --- a humorous palindrome in Hong Kong, created by James Wong.
Should this be kept? It seems somewhat absurd to me to keep only the English translation of a Palindrome phrase, which is too vulgar to be shown in its original (and palindromic) text. The English version isn't at all a palindrome, so if that's the only version that is going to be shown, it seems a bit pointless. If nobody objects, I'll remove it. michaelb 21:50, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- Nobody seems to mind, so I'm removing it. michaelb 00:02, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Alphabetize?
I think the phrases should be alphabetized, it would make the article neater.
- In my opinion sorting by size (descending) would be more appropriate. The meaning of the sentences is not of primary importance, the size is. This is also the way it's done in the Palindromic words article (with an alphabetic subsort for equal length words). −Woodstone 16:21, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

- I agree. Sorting by size would make the most sense, with smaller sizes higher.michaelb 21:50, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Also, if someone would PLEASE amend the list of languages to include Lojban, Vorlin & Volapuk, i have palindromes to add in all of those constrcuted languages. mrh
[edit] About the citation to www.palindromer.dk
Since I am the author of several of the Danish palindromes listed, they must originate from the palindromes page I maintain, www.palindromer.dk. Hence, I believe a citation is in its place. Cheers, Jakob Fredslund

During several automated bot runs the following external link was found to be unavailable. Please check if the link is in fact down and fix or remove it in that case!

[edit] About adding new examples
Just checking in with the natives here to see what the local custom is concerning new additions. I have some palindromes (some original) I could lay on y'all, but want to see whether they'd be welcome or not. Is the idea to let this list get arbitrarily long (thus potentially creating a monumentally stupid article, in my view, like List of musical works in unusual time signatures), or is it supposed to be a judiciously-trimmed list of only the most sterling, outstanding and righteous examples of palindromi? Or is this a ridiculous question? +ILike2BeAnonymous 04:28, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
