Palmer High School is a public high school located in the beautiful Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the city of Palmer, Alaska. Its mission is to prepare lifelong learners, community assets, and citizens of integrity. Palmer High is a quickly growing school with a broad and diverse field of education. It offers in-depth courses in fine arts, mathematics, world languages, physical education and health, science, English, social sciences, and career and technical education. Student support services and an Extended Learning Program (ELP) are also available to students.

Palmer High School accommodates 884 students in grades 9 through 12. Out of these 884 students, 242 are freshmen, 253 are sophomores, 209 are juniors, and 180 are seniors. The teacher-student ratio is 1:20, compared to the state average of 1:17. Of all the students currently enrolled, 10% are American Indian, 1% are Asian, 2% are Hispanic, 2% are African-American, and 85% are White. This is compared to the state high school averages of 27%, 7%, 4%, 5%, and 58%, respectively. Eleven percent of Palmer High’s enrollees are eligible for free lunch, 6% are eligible for reduced lunch, and 3% are migrant students. ^[1]
