Palm Court (Vancouver)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Palm Court is a skyscraper that has received re-zoning approval in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, located at 1133 West Georgia Street. Proposed in 2005, Palm Court will be a 56 storey, 183 metre (600 foot) high, mixed-use tower, scheduled to be completed in 2008. Upon completion, Palm Court will be one of the two tallest buildings in the city, depending on the completion date of Living Shangri-La.
Plans include a hotel within the building (180 rooms), 210 residential units, public green space, and an enclosed glass palm court. The tower, designed by architect Arthur Erickson, will be triangular in shape, twisting gradually with height up to 45 degrees from bottom to top. The building is described as having a 'hyperbolic paraboloid' form; the design is similar to the Absolute Tower and Turning Torso highrises. The developer, Holborn Group, is aiming for LEED Silver certification for the building. The 9 storey derelict building formerly occupying the site will be demolished.
